Bespoke security grilles in Nairn

How much do bespoke security grilles cost in Nairn?

Most bespoke security grilles in Nairn fall within £474 to £3,594 including VAT (£395 to £2,995 plus VAT) per opening for supply and fitting. We confirm a fixed price in writing after a free survey, before anything is ordered.

A bespoke security grille is designed and fabricated for one particular opening, such as an arched window, a curved bay, a very large screen or a period building where a standard grille would look wrong. It is measured on site, drawn up and made to suit.

Fitting in Nairn and nearby

Nairn is about 15 miles from Inverness, the main centre for Highland. We can survey and fit across the IV12 district and in nearby places such as Inverness and Dingwall.

The Highlands are one of the most sparsely populated parts of the UK, with Inverness as the main centre and many remote homes, holiday lets and small-town shops.

Typical places for this kind of grille include:

Arched and Gothic windows
Churches and community halls
Listed and period buildings
Feature windows and atriums

Things to decide before you order

Consents

Listed buildings and conservation areas may need consent; bespoke designs are often how consent is won.

Budget

Decorative work costs more than plain bars. We can price plain and decorative options side by side.

Rules that apply in Scotland

Scotland

External grilles and planning

External grilles and shutters on commercial buildings normally need planning permission from the council under the Scottish planning system. Councils' shopfront guidance commonly prefers internal, open-mesh security, particularly in conservation areas and town centres.

Bedroom and escape windows

In Scotland, escape from homes is covered by the Building Standards technical handbooks (section 2, fire). Where a room relies on a window for escape, nothing fitted over it should stop it being used. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.

Bespoke security grilles in Nairn: questions

Do you cover Inverness as well as Nairn?

Yes. As well as Nairn, we can arrange surveys in nearby Inverness, Dingwall and Elgin, and elsewhere in Highland.

Can you make a grille for an arched window?

Yes. Fixed and removable grilles can follow the arch exactly, and retractable grilles can be fitted below the springing line with a fixed arched panel above.

Can you copy an existing grille design?

We can make a grille in a similar style for a matching window. We do not copy other firms' registered designs.

How long do bespoke grilles take?

Longer than standard grilles because each is drawn and fabricated individually. The lead time is confirmed with the quote.
