How much do security grilles cost?
Most retractable window grilles cost £345 to £795 plus VAT (£414 to £954 inc VAT) supplied and fitted, door gates £595 to £1,295 plus VAT (£714 to £1,554 inc VAT), and shopfronts £1,195 to £3,495 plus VAT (£1,434 to £4,194 inc VAT). Your fixed price is confirmed in writing after a free survey.
Is the survey free?
Yes, for new grille installations. Repair and servicing visits are charged, and the visit price is confirmed before we attend.
Do your prices include VAT?
Guide prices are shown excluding VAT, with the VAT-inclusive figure alongside on the prices page.
Can I get a price without a visit?
Yes. Use the quote tool or send sizes and photos for a guide price. The fixed price follows a survey.
How do I pay?
Payment terms are set out in your written quote before any work starts.
Choosing a grille
Which type of grille do I need?
Retractable for openings used every day, fixed for windows that never open and are not needed for escape, removable for occasional use, hinged or bi-fold where there is no room for a folded stack.
Inside or outside the glass?
Inside in most cases: it is protected, keeps the building looking the same and rarely needs planning permission.
Can grilles go on bedroom windows?
Yes, with a keyless internal release so the window still works as an escape route.
What colours are available?
White, black and anthracite as standard, with other RAL colours to order.
Do you supply certified grilles?
Yes. We supply and fit LPS 1175 certified products and give you the manufacturer's certificate reference. The certification belongs to the manufacturer's product.
Fitting
Who fits the grilles?
Installers working under our contract with you. You deal with us from survey to handover.
How long does fitting take?
Most single grilles take one to two hours; a whole house or shopfront may take a day.
How long before my grille is fitted?
Grilles are made to measure after the survey. We confirm the lead time with your quote.
Can you work outside business hours?
Early or late slots can usually be arranged for shops and offices, subject to the installer's schedule.
Do you cover my area?
We cover England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Islands and remote areas are arranged individually.
Rules and safety
Do grilles need planning permission?
Internal grilles usually do not. External grilles and shutters on commercial buildings normally do, and listed buildings need consent for works affecting their character.
Can a grille go across a fire exit?
Only if it never obstructs escape while people are inside, for example by being unlocked and parked open during occupied hours.
Can landlords fit grilles?
Yes, with keyless releases on any window a tenant may need for escape.
Do you hold any accreditations?
We do not claim accreditations we do not hold. Where a certified product is supplied, the certificate belongs to its manufacturer.
Aftercare
Do you repair grilles you did not fit?
Yes, on most makes, subject to parts.
How often should grilles be serviced?
Yearly for light use, six-monthly for daily-use, external and electric grilles.
I have lost my grille key. What now?
We can open and replace the lock, keyed alike with your other grilles if you wish.
