Bespoke security grilles in Dundee

How much should I budget for bespoke security grilles in Dundee?

Our guide range for bespoke security grilles in Dundee is £474 to £3,594 including VAT (£395 to £2,995 plus VAT) per opening, including fitting. The survey is free for new installations and your fixed price follows in writing.

A bespoke security grille is designed and fabricated for one particular opening, such as an arched window, a curved bay, a very large screen or a period building where a standard grille would look wrong. It is measured on site, drawn up and made to suit.

What to think about first

Budget

Decorative work costs more than plain bars. We can price plain and decorative options side by side.

Design approval

We agree a drawing showing bar layout, sections and finish before anything is made.

Consents and safety: Scotland

Scotland

Bedroom and escape windows

In Scotland, escape from homes is covered by the Building Standards technical handbooks (section 2, fire). Where a room relies on a window for escape, nothing fitted over it should stop it being used. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.

External grilles and planning

External grilles and shutters on commercial buildings normally need planning permission from the council under the Scottish planning system. Councils' shopfront guidance commonly prefers internal, open-mesh security, particularly in conservation areas and town centres.

Bespoke security grilles in Dundee: questions

Do you cover Cupar as well as Dundee?

Yes. As well as Dundee, we can arrange surveys in nearby Cupar, St Andrews and Forfar, and elsewhere in Dundee and Angus.

Can you make a grille for an arched window?

Yes. Fixed and removable grilles can follow the arch exactly, and retractable grilles can be fitted below the springing line with a fixed arched panel above.

Can bespoke grilles still be retractable?

Yes, within limits. Retractable grilles need straight tracks, so curved or arched parts are usually fixed.

Can you copy an existing grille design?

We can make a grille in a similar style for a matching window. We do not copy other firms' registered designs.
