Bespoke security grilles in Blairgowrie

Bespoke security grilles in Blairgowrie: what will it cost?

As a guide, bespoke security grilles in Blairgowrie cost £474 to £3,594 including VAT (£395 to £2,995 plus VAT) per opening, supplied and fitted. The exact figure depends on size, type, finish and locking, and is confirmed in writing after the free survey.

A bespoke security grille is designed and fabricated for one particular opening, such as an arched window, a curved bay, a very large screen or a period building where a standard grille would look wrong. It is measured on site, drawn up and made to suit.

Getting the right bespoke grille for your building

Design approval

We agree a drawing showing bar layout, sections and finish before anything is made.

Consents

Listed buildings and conservation areas may need consent; bespoke designs are often how consent is won.

What the rules say in Scotland

Scotland

External grilles and planning

External grilles and shutters on commercial buildings normally need planning permission from the council under the Scottish planning system. Councils' shopfront guidance commonly prefers internal, open-mesh security, particularly in conservation areas and town centres.

Bedroom and escape windows

In Scotland, escape from homes is covered by the Building Standards technical handbooks (section 2, fire). Where a room relies on a window for escape, nothing fitted over it should stop it being used. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.

Bespoke security grilles in Blairgowrie: questions

Do you cover Perth as well as Blairgowrie?

Yes. As well as Blairgowrie, we can arrange surveys in nearby Perth, Dundee and Pitlochry, and elsewhere in Perth and Kinross.

Can a grille be designed for a listed building?

Yes. Slim sections, matched colours and minimal fixings help, but listed building consent is still needed for works that affect the building's character.

Can you copy an existing grille design?

We can make a grille in a similar style for a matching window. We do not copy other firms' registered designs.

Can you make a grille for an arched window?

Yes. Fixed and removable grilles can follow the arch exactly, and retractable grilles can be fitted below the springing line with a fixed arched panel above.
