Security grille installation in Dundee: what will it cost?
Fitting grilles you already own in Dundee typically costs £234 to £594 including VAT (£195 to £495 plus VAT) per opening, after we have checked the product. For new grilles, fitting is included in the supplied-and-fitted price confirmed after a free survey.
Security grille installation covers the free survey, measuring, ordering and fitting of your grilles, then a handover where we show you how to operate and look after them. You contract with us for the whole job, and the work is carried out by installers working under our contract.
What we look at
- Lock test and adjustment on every grille
- Fit-only service for suitable existing grilles

What the rules say in Scotland
Bedroom and escape windows
In Scotland, escape from homes is covered by the Building Standards technical handbooks (section 2, fire). Where a room relies on a window for escape, nothing fitted over it should stop it being used. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.
Grilles inside the glass
A grille fitted inside the glass does not normally need planning permission in Scotland, as it does not materially change the outside of the building. If the building is listed, listed building consent may still be needed.
How it works
- Tell us what needs fitting
- Free survey for new installations
- Fixed price in writing
- Fitting, testing and handover
Security grille installation in Dundee: questions
Do you cover Cupar as well as Dundee?
Yes. As well as Dundee, we can arrange visits in nearby Cupar, St Andrews and Forfar, and elsewhere in Dundee and Angus.
Will fitting make a mess?
Drilling makes some dust. Installers use dust sheets and a vacuum and leave the area tidy.
Is the survey free?
Yes, for new grille installations. Repair and servicing visits are charged.
Can you fit a grille I bought online?
Often, yes. We check the product, measurements and fixings first, then quote a fit-only price, usually from £195 plus VAT (£234 inc VAT) per opening.
