What is the price of patio and bifold door grilles in Penarth?
Budget £1,074 to £2,994 including VAT (£895 to £2,495 plus VAT) per set of doors for patio and bifold door grilles in Penarth, supplied and fitted. Size, number of leaves, colour and access all move the price, which is fixed in writing after the survey.
A patio door grille is a wide retractable grille fitted inside sliding patio or bifold doors. Closed, it protects a large glazed opening that is often out of sight at the back of the house; open, it folds into slim stacks so the view and access are unaffected.
What goes into a patio door grille
- Works with sliding, lift-and-slide and bifold doors
- Stacks positioned to clear handles and curtains
- Optional extra locking points for wide spans
- Low-profile or recessed floor tracks
- Locks operable from inside
- Matched to aluminium, uPVC or timber frames

Planning and safety in Wales
Grilles inside the glass
A grille fitted inside the glass does not normally need planning permission in Wales, as it does not materially change the outside of the building. If the building is listed, listed building consent may still be needed.
Bedroom and escape windows
Wales has its own Approved Documents under the Building Regulations. Approved Document B for Wales sets out escape window provisions for dwellings broadly in line with England's, including minimum opening sizes. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.

Patio and bifold door grilles in Penarth: questions
Do you cover Cardiff as well as Penarth?
Yes. As well as Penarth, we can arrange surveys in nearby Cardiff, Barry and Caerphilly, and elsewhere in South Glamorgan.
How long does fitting take?
A typical set of patio doors takes half a day once the grille is made.
Can the grille be fitted outside the patio doors?
It can, but inside is usual because the grille is protected and the outside of the house stays the same.
Can I walk over the grille track?
Yes. Low-profile tracks are a few millimetres high, and recessed tracks sit flush with the floor.
