French door grilles in Rugby: what will it cost?

Most French door grilles in Rugby fall within £954 to £2,034 including VAT (£795 to £1,695 plus VAT) per pair of doors for supply and fitting. We confirm a fixed price in writing after a free survey, before anything is ordered.

French door grilles are usually a pair of retractable grilles that fold to each side of the doors and meet in the centre, where they lock together. They protect the glazing and the meeting stiles, which are the weak point of many French doors.

What you can specify

  • Locks keyed alike with other grilles in the house
  • Optional shoot bolts top and bottom
  • Pair of leaves meeting at a central lock
  • Set back to clear inward-opening doors
  • Low-profile floor track
  • Matches white, black or wood-effect frames

Fitting in Rugby and nearby

We arrange surveys and fitting in Rugby and across the CV21 postcode district, as well as in nearby Daventry (9 miles) and Coventry (11 miles). Dates depend on installer availability.

Getting the right French door grille for your building

One side or both

A centre-meeting pair lets you open one side for everyday use.

Upper floors

A grille behind Juliet balcony doors needs to keep any required escape route usable.

What the rules say in England

England

Bedroom and escape windows

Approved Document B (fire safety) expects many habitable rooms in houses, especially first-floor rooms, to have an emergency escape window with an unobstructed opening of at least 0.33 m², at least 450 mm high and 450 mm wide, with the bottom of the opening no more than 1,100 mm above the floor. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a release that opens from inside without a key.

Grilles inside the glass

A grille fitted inside the glass does not normally need planning permission, because it does not materially change how the building looks from outside. If the building is listed, listed building consent may still be needed.

French door grilles in Rugby: questions

Do you cover Daventry as well as Rugby?

Yes. As well as Rugby, we can arrange surveys in nearby Daventry, Coventry and Bedworth, and elsewhere in Warwickshire.

Do French door grilles need a floor track?

Usually a low-profile one, which keeps the grille rigid and is easy to step over.

My French doors open inwards. Can I still have a grille?

Yes. The grille is set back from the doors so they can swing open, or fitted outside if there is no room inside.

Will the grille match my doors?

We powder-coat grilles in white, black, anthracite or a RAL colour close to your frames.
