How much should I budget for French door grilles in Hinckley?
French door grilles in Hinckley typically cost £954 to £2,034 including VAT (£795 to £1,695 plus VAT) per pair of doors, supplied and fitted. Use the quote tool for a guide figure, then we survey and confirm a fixed price.
French door grilles are usually a pair of retractable grilles that fold to each side of the doors and meet in the centre, where they lock together. They protect the glazing and the meeting stiles, which are the weak point of many French doors.

Fitting in Hinckley and nearby
Hinckley is about 12 miles from Leicester, the main centre for Leicestershire. We can survey and fit across the LE10 district and in nearby places such as Nuneaton and Bedworth.
Leicestershire mixes Leicester's Victorian terraces and busy retail streets with market towns such as Loughborough and Melton Mowbray.
Where French door grilles are most often used:
- Ground-floor flats
- Juliet balconies on upper floors (with escape in mind)
- Dining rooms and kitchens
- Period homes with timber French doors
What to think about first
Door swing
Inward-opening doors need the grille set back far enough to clear the leaves.
One side or both
A centre-meeting pair lets you open one side for everyday use.
Consents and safety: England
Bedroom and escape windows
Approved Document B (fire safety) expects many habitable rooms in houses, especially first-floor rooms, to have an emergency escape window with an unobstructed opening of at least 0.33 m², at least 450 mm high and 450 mm wide, with the bottom of the opening no more than 1,100 mm above the floor. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a release that opens from inside without a key.
Grilles inside the glass
A grille fitted inside the glass does not normally need planning permission, because it does not materially change how the building looks from outside. If the building is listed, listed building consent may still be needed.
