How much do bespoke security grilles cost in Farnham?

Our guide range for bespoke security grilles in Farnham is £474 to £3,594 including VAT (£395 to £2,995 plus VAT) per opening, including fitting. The survey is free for new installations and your fixed price follows in writing.

A bespoke security grille is designed and fabricated for one particular opening, such as an arched window, a curved bay, a very large screen or a period building where a standard grille would look wrong. It is measured on site, drawn up and made to suit.

Things to decide before you order

Design approval

We agree a drawing showing bar layout, sections and finish before anything is made.

Budget

Decorative work costs more than plain bars. We can price plain and decorative options side by side.

Rules that apply in England

England

Bedroom and escape windows

Approved Document B (fire safety) expects many habitable rooms in houses, especially first-floor rooms, to have an emergency escape window with an unobstructed opening of at least 0.33 m², at least 450 mm high and 450 mm wide, with the bottom of the opening no more than 1,100 mm above the floor. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a release that opens from inside without a key.

Listed buildings and conservation areas

Listed buildings need listed building consent for works that affect their character, which can include internal grilles and their fixings. In conservation areas, councils look closely at anything fitted to the outside. We recommend speaking to the council's conservation officer before ordering.

Bespoke security grilles in Farnham: questions

Do you cover Aldershot as well as Farnham?

Yes. As well as Farnham, we can arrange surveys in nearby Aldershot, Fleet and Farnborough, and elsewhere in Surrey.

Can bespoke grilles still be retractable?

Yes, within limits. Retractable grilles need straight tracks, so curved or arched parts are usually fixed.

Can you make a grille for an arched window?

Yes. Fixed and removable grilles can follow the arch exactly, and retractable grilles can be fitted below the springing line with a fixed arched panel above.

Can you copy an existing grille design?

We can make a grille in a similar style for a matching window. We do not copy other firms' registered designs.
