Bespoke security grilles in Bordon

Bespoke security grilles in Bordon: what will it cost?

As a guide, bespoke security grilles in Bordon cost £474 to £3,594 including VAT (£395 to £2,995 plus VAT) per opening, supplied and fitted. The exact figure depends on size, type, finish and locking, and is confirmed in writing after the free survey.

A bespoke security grille is designed and fabricated for one particular opening, such as an arched window, a curved bay, a very large screen or a period building where a standard grille would look wrong. It is measured on site, drawn up and made to suit.

What the rules say in England

England

External grilles and planning

External grilles and shutters on shops and other commercial buildings normally need planning permission from the local council because they change the building's appearance. Many councils' shopfront guides favour internal, open-lattice grilles, particularly in conservation areas.

Listed buildings and conservation areas

Listed buildings need listed building consent for works that affect their character, which can include internal grilles and their fixings. In conservation areas, councils look closely at anything fitted to the outside. We recommend speaking to the council's conservation officer before ordering.

Bespoke security grilles in Bordon: questions

Can you survey in Bordon and nearby towns?

Yes. Surveys in Bordon, Farnham, Aldershot and elsewhere in Hampshire are booked around installer availability.

Can you make a grille for an arched window?

Yes. Fixed and removable grilles can follow the arch exactly, and retractable grilles can be fitted below the springing line with a fixed arched panel above.

Can bespoke grilles still be retractable?

Yes, within limits. Retractable grilles need straight tracks, so curved or arched parts are usually fixed.

Can a grille be designed for a listed building?

Yes. Slim sections, matched colours and minimal fixings help, but listed building consent is still needed for works that affect the building's character.
