Bespoke security grilles in Newtown

Bespoke security grilles in Newtown: what will it cost?

Budget £474 to £3,594 including VAT (£395 to £2,995 plus VAT) per opening for bespoke security grilles in Newtown, supplied and fitted. Size, number of leaves, colour and access all move the price, which is fixed in writing after the survey.

A bespoke security grille is designed and fabricated for one particular opening, such as an arched window, a curved bay, a very large screen or a period building where a standard grille would look wrong. It is measured on site, drawn up and made to suit.

Choices you can make

Arched, curved, raked and odd-shaped grilles
Retractable, fixed, removable or hinged in bespoke shapes
Hidden or discreet fixings
Decorative bar patterns and scroll work
Slim sections for period and listed buildings
Very large or multi-section screens

Getting the right bespoke grille for your building

Design approval

We agree a drawing showing bar layout, sections and finish before anything is made.

Lead time

Bespoke grilles take longer than standard ones because each is drawn and made individually.

What the rules say in Wales

Wales

Listed buildings and conservation areas

Listed buildings in Wales need listed building consent for works affecting their character, decided by the local planning authority with Cadw's involvement where required. Conservation areas bring extra scrutiny of external changes. Check with the council before ordering.

Bedroom and escape windows

Wales has its own Approved Documents under the Building Regulations. Approved Document B for Wales sets out escape window provisions for dwellings broadly in line with England's, including minimum opening sizes. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.

Bespoke security grilles in Newtown: questions

Do you cover Welshpool as well as Newtown?

Yes. As well as Newtown, we can arrange surveys in nearby Welshpool, Llandrindod Wells and Aberystwyth, and elsewhere in Powys.

Can bespoke grilles still be retractable?

Yes, within limits. Retractable grilles need straight tracks, so curved or arched parts are usually fixed.

Can you copy an existing grille design?

We can make a grille in a similar style for a matching window. We do not copy other firms' registered designs.

Can you make a grille for an arched window?

Yes. Fixed and removable grilles can follow the arch exactly, and retractable grilles can be fitted below the springing line with a fixed arched panel above.
