Security grille installation in Newtown: what will it cost?
Fitting grilles you already own in Newtown typically costs £234 to £594 including VAT (£195 to £495 plus VAT) per opening, after we have checked the product. For new grilles, fitting is included in the supplied-and-fitted price confirmed after a free survey.
Security grille installation covers the free survey, measuring, ordering and fitting of your grilles, then a handover where we show you how to operate and look after them. You contract with us for the whole job, and the work is carried out by installers working under our contract.
What we look at
- Check of fixing substrate before ordering
- Lock test and adjustment on every grille
- Operating and care handover

What the rules say in Wales
Grilles inside the glass
A grille fitted inside the glass does not normally need planning permission in Wales, as it does not materially change the outside of the building. If the building is listed, listed building consent may still be needed.
Grilles across exits in business premises
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 applies in Wales, including to the common parts of blocks of flats and HMOs. The responsible person must keep escape routes and exits available and easy to open while people are present, so a grille across an exit should be open whenever the premises are occupied.
How it works
- Tell us what needs fitting
- Free survey for new installations
