Bespoke security grilles in Faversham

Bespoke security grilles in Faversham: what will it cost?

As a guide, bespoke security grilles in Faversham cost £474 to £3,594 including VAT (£395 to £2,995 plus VAT) per opening, supplied and fitted. The exact figure depends on size, type, finish and locking, and is confirmed in writing after the free survey.

A bespoke security grille is designed and fabricated for one particular opening, such as an arched window, a curved bay, a very large screen or a period building where a standard grille would look wrong. It is measured on site, drawn up and made to suit.

Getting the right bespoke grille for your building

Budget

Decorative work costs more than plain bars. We can price plain and decorative options side by side.

Lead time

Bespoke grilles take longer than standard ones because each is drawn and made individually.

What the rules say in England

England

External grilles and planning

External grilles and shutters on shops and other commercial buildings normally need planning permission from the local council because they change the building's appearance. Many councils' shopfront guides favour internal, open-lattice grilles, particularly in conservation areas.

Listed buildings and conservation areas

Listed buildings need listed building consent for works that affect their character, which can include internal grilles and their fixings. In conservation areas, councils look closely at anything fitted to the outside. We recommend speaking to the council's conservation officer before ordering.

Bespoke security grilles in Faversham: questions

Do you cover Whitstable as well as Faversham?

Yes. As well as Faversham, we can arrange surveys in nearby Whitstable, Sittingbourne and Canterbury, and elsewhere in Kent.

Can you copy an existing grille design?

We can make a grille in a similar style for a matching window. We do not copy other firms' registered designs.

Can bespoke grilles still be retractable?

Yes, within limits. Retractable grilles need straight tracks, so curved or arched parts are usually fixed.

Can you make a grille for an arched window?

Yes. Fixed and removable grilles can follow the arch exactly, and retractable grilles can be fitted below the springing line with a fixed arched panel above.
