Most bespoke security grilles in Caernarfon fall within £474 to £3,594 including VAT (£395 to £2,995 plus VAT) per opening for supply and fitting. We confirm a fixed price in writing after a free survey, before anything is ordered.

A bespoke security grille is designed and fabricated for one particular opening, such as an arched window, a curved bay, a very large screen or a period building where a standard grille would look wrong. It is measured on site, drawn up and made to suit.

Consents

Listed buildings and conservation areas may need consent; bespoke designs are often how consent is won.

Lead time

Bespoke grilles take longer than standard ones because each is drawn and made individually.

What the rules say in Wales

Wales

External grilles and planning

External grilles and shutters on commercial buildings normally need planning permission from the local planning authority. Welsh councils' shopfront and design guidance generally favours internal, see-through security over solid external shutters.

Bedroom and escape windows

Wales has its own Approved Documents under the Building Regulations. Approved Document B for Wales sets out escape window provisions for dwellings broadly in line with England's, including minimum opening sizes. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.

Bespoke security grilles in Caernarfon: questions

Which areas near Caernarfon do you cover?

We can arrange work in Caernarfon and in nearby Bangor (9 miles), Pwllheli (18 miles) and Holyhead (19 miles). Dates depend on installer availability.

Can you make a grille for an arched window?

Yes. Fixed and removable grilles can follow the arch exactly, and retractable grilles can be fitted below the springing line with a fixed arched panel above.

Can a grille be designed for a listed building?

Yes. Slim sections, matched colours and minimal fixings help, but listed building consent is still needed for works that affect the building's character.

How long do bespoke grilles take?

Longer than standard grilles because each is drawn and fabricated individually. The lead time is confirmed with the quote.
