How much should I budget for bespoke security grilles in Gwynedd?
Most bespoke security grilles in Gwynedd fall within £474 to £3,594 including VAT (£395 to £2,995 plus VAT) per opening for supply and fitting. We confirm a fixed price in writing after a free survey, before anything is ordered.
A bespoke security grille is designed and fabricated for one particular opening, such as an arched window, a curved bay, a very large screen or a period building where a standard grille would look wrong. It is measured on site, drawn up and made to suit.

What to think about first
Lead time
Bespoke grilles take longer than standard ones because each is drawn and made individually.
Design approval
We agree a drawing showing bar layout, sections and finish before anything is made.
Consents and safety: Wales
External grilles and planning
External grilles and shutters on commercial buildings normally need planning permission from the local planning authority. Welsh councils' shopfront and design guidance generally favours internal, see-through security over solid external shutters.
Bedroom and escape windows
Wales has its own Approved Documents under the Building Regulations. Approved Document B for Wales sets out escape window provisions for dwellings broadly in line with England's, including minimum opening sizes. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.

Bespoke security grilles in Gwynedd: questions
Which towns in Gwynedd do you cover?
We can arrange work anywhere in Gwynedd, including Bangor, Caernarfon, Holyhead and Pwllheli.
Can a grille be designed for a listed building?
Yes. Slim sections, matched colours and minimal fixings help, but listed building consent is still needed for works that affect the building's character.
Can bespoke grilles still be retractable?
Yes, within limits. Retractable grilles need straight tracks, so curved or arched parts are usually fixed.
Can you make a grille for an arched window?
Yes. Fixed and removable grilles can follow the arch exactly, and retractable grilles can be fitted below the springing line with a fixed arched panel above.
