Bespoke security grilles in Ayr

What is the price of bespoke security grilles in Ayr?

Most bespoke security grilles in Ayr fall within £474 to £3,594 including VAT (£395 to £2,995 plus VAT) per opening for supply and fitting. We confirm a fixed price in writing after a free survey, before anything is ordered.

A bespoke security grille is designed and fabricated for one particular opening, such as an arched window, a curved bay, a very large screen or a period building where a standard grille would look wrong. It is measured on site, drawn up and made to suit.

Questions we will ask at the survey

Budget

Decorative work costs more than plain bars. We can price plain and decorative options side by side.

Consents

Listed buildings and conservation areas may need consent; bespoke designs are often how consent is won.

Scotland

Listed buildings and conservation areas

Listed buildings in Scotland need listed building consent for works affecting their character, decided by the council, with Historic Environment Scotland consulted on some cases. Conservation areas bring extra scrutiny of external changes. Check with the council before ordering.

Bedroom and escape windows

In Scotland, escape from homes is covered by the Building Standards technical handbooks (section 2, fire). Where a room relies on a window for escape, nothing fitted over it should stop it being used. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.

Bespoke security grilles in Ayr: questions

Can you survey in Ayr and nearby towns?

Yes. Surveys in Ayr, Troon, Irvine and elsewhere in Ayrshire are booked around installer availability.

Can a grille be designed for a listed building?

Yes. Slim sections, matched colours and minimal fixings help, but listed building consent is still needed for works that affect the building's character.

Can you make a grille for an arched window?

Yes. Fixed and removable grilles can follow the arch exactly, and retractable grilles can be fitted below the springing line with a fixed arched panel above.

Can you copy an existing grille design?

We can make a grille in a similar style for a matching window. We do not copy other firms' registered designs.
