How much do French door grilles cost in Ayr?
Most French door grilles in Ayr fall within £954 to £2,034 including VAT (£795 to £1,695 plus VAT) per pair of doors for supply and fitting. We confirm a fixed price in writing after a free survey, before anything is ordered.
French door grilles are usually a pair of retractable grilles that fold to each side of the doors and meet in the centre, where they lock together. They protect the glazing and the meeting stiles, which are the weak point of many French doors.

Fitting in Ayr and nearby
Ayr is about 12 miles from Kilmarnock, the main centre for Ayrshire. We can survey and fit across the KA7 district and in nearby places such as Troon and Irvine.
Ayrshire combines Kilmarnock and Irvine's town centres with seaside towns such as Ayr, Troon and Largs.
Typical places for this kind of grille include:
- French doors to gardens
- Ground-floor flats
- Juliet balconies on upper floors (with escape in mind)
- Dining rooms and kitchens
Things to decide before you order
One side or both
A centre-meeting pair lets you open one side for everyday use.
Door swing
Inward-opening doors need the grille set back far enough to clear the leaves.
Rules that apply in Scotland
Listed buildings and conservation areas
Listed buildings in Scotland need listed building consent for works affecting their character, decided by the council, with Historic Environment Scotland consulted on some cases. Conservation areas bring extra scrutiny of external changes. Check with the council before ordering.
Bedroom and escape windows
In Scotland, escape from homes is covered by the Building Standards technical handbooks (section 2, fire). Where a room relies on a window for escape, nothing fitted over it should stop it being used. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.

French door grilles in Ayr: questions
Which areas near Ayr do you cover?
We can arrange work in Ayr and in nearby Troon (6 miles), Irvine (11 miles) and Kilmarnock (12 miles). Dates depend on installer availability.
My French doors open inwards. Can I still have a grille?
Yes. The grille is set back from the doors so they can swing open, or fitted outside if there is no room inside.
Will the grille match my doors?
We powder-coat grilles in white, black, anthracite or a RAL colour close to your frames.
Can French door grilles open one side only?
Yes. Each leaf runs independently, so you can open one side and leave the other closed.
