How much do French door grilles cost in Ayrshire?
Budget £954 to £2,034 including VAT (£795 to £1,695 plus VAT) per pair of doors for French door grilles in Ayrshire, supplied and fitted. Size, number of leaves, colour and access all move the price, which is fixed in writing after the survey.
French door grilles are usually a pair of retractable grilles that fold to each side of the doors and meet in the centre, where they lock together. They protect the glazing and the meeting stiles, which are the weak point of many French doors.

Rules that apply in Scotland
Bedroom and escape windows
In Scotland, escape from homes is covered by the Building Standards technical handbooks (section 2, fire). Where a room relies on a window for escape, nothing fitted over it should stop it being used. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.
Listed buildings and conservation areas
Listed buildings in Scotland need listed building consent for works affecting their character, decided by the council, with Historic Environment Scotland consulted on some cases. Conservation areas bring extra scrutiny of external changes. Check with the council before ordering.

Which towns in Ayrshire do you cover?
We can arrange work anywhere in Ayrshire, including Kilmarnock, Ayr, Irvine, Largs and Saltcoats, and in other towns across the area.
My French doors open inwards. Can I still have a grille?
Yes. The grille is set back from the doors so they can swing open, or fitted outside if there is no room inside.
How long does it take to fit?
Usually two to three hours once the grilles arrive.
Can French door grilles open one side only?
Yes. Each leaf runs independently, so you can open one side and leave the other closed.
