Security grille servicing in Galashiels: what will it cost?
Security grille servicing in Galashiels costs £114 to £234 including VAT (£95 to £195 plus VAT) per grille, with a minimum visit charge of £174 including VAT (£145 plus VAT). The price is confirmed before the visit.
Security grille servicing is planned maintenance that keeps grilles running smoothly and locking properly. A service cleans the tracks, lubricates the pivots and runners, checks fixings and alignment, tests the lock and any release mechanism, and records anything that needs attention.
What we look at
- Quick-release escape mechanism test
- Check of fixings, alignment and stack
- Written service record
- Roller grille spring, motor and safety device checks

Things to think about
Escape releases
Grilles with quick-release mechanisms should be checked as part of every service.
Records
Service records help with insurers, landlords and fire risk assessments.
What the rules say in Scotland
Bedroom and escape windows
In Scotland, escape from homes is covered by the Building Standards technical handbooks (section 2, fire). Where a room relies on a window for escape, nothing fitted over it should stop it being used. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.
Electric roller grilles
Electric grilles need a suitable supply wired to BS 7671, with some work needing a building warrant in Scotland. Powered grilles should have working safety devices and regular maintenance.
