Home security grilles in Galashiels

What is the price of home security grilles in Galashiels?

Budget £414 to £954 including VAT (£345 to £795 plus VAT) per window for home security grilles in Galashiels, supplied and fitted. Size, number of leaves, colour and access all move the price, which is fixed in writing after the survey.

Home security grilles are made-to-measure grilles for the windows and doors of houses and flats, usually retractable and fitted inside the glass. Folded back during the day they are barely noticeable; drawn across at night or when you are away, they stop entry through broken glass.

Escape from bedrooms

Grilles over bedroom and upstairs windows need a release that opens from inside without a key.

Bedroom and escape windows

In Scotland, escape from homes is covered by the Building Standards technical handbooks (section 2, fire). Where a room relies on a window for escape, nothing fitted over it should stop it being used. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.

Grilles in rented homes

Private landlords in Scotland must meet the repairing standard, which includes fire safety provisions. Grilles over windows a tenant may need for escape should open from inside without a key.

Home security grilles in Galashiels: questions

Do you cover Hawick as well as Galashiels?

Yes. As well as Galashiels, we can arrange surveys in nearby Hawick, Kelso and Peebles, and elsewhere in Scottish Borders.

Will grilles affect my home insurance?

Some insurers ask about security measures. Tell your insurer about any changes; they decide whether it affects your policy.

Are grilles safe if there is a fire?

Yes, provided any window needed for escape has a grille with a keyless internal release. We will not fit a key-only grille over an escape window.

Can grilles be fitted in a rented home?

Tenants need the landlord's permission. Landlords should make sure escape routes stay usable for tenants.
