Visits in Crowthorne and nearby
Crowthorne is about 10 miles from Reading, the main centre for Berkshire. We can arrange visits across the RG45 district and in nearby places such as Sandhurst and Yateley.
Berkshire mixes Victorian and Edwardian terraces in Reading, commuter semis along the Thames Valley and modern business parks around Slough and Bracknell.
This work suits:
- Fitting grilles you have bought
- Multi-site schedules
- Replacing old or broken grilles
- New grilles for homes and businesses
Before the visit
Existing grilles
Old grilles can be removed and taken away as part of the job.
Timing
Shops and offices can usually book early or late slots, subject to the installer's schedule.
Planning and safety in England
Bedroom and escape windows
Approved Document B (fire safety) expects many habitable rooms in houses, especially first-floor rooms, to have an emergency escape window with an unobstructed opening of at least 0.33 m², at least 450 mm high and 450 mm wide, with the bottom of the opening no more than 1,100 mm above the floor. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a release that opens from inside without a key.
Grilles inside the glass
A grille fitted inside the glass does not normally need planning permission, because it does not materially change how the building looks from outside. If the building is listed, listed building consent may still be needed.
How it works
- Send photos of the openings
- Measuring and fixing check
- Written quote
- Installation and handover
