How much do French door grilles cost in King's Lynn?
Most French door grilles in King's Lynn fall within £954 to £2,034 including VAT (£795 to £1,695 plus VAT) per pair of doors for supply and fitting. We confirm a fixed price in writing after a free survey, before anything is ordered.
French door grilles are usually a pair of retractable grilles that fold to each side of the doors and meet in the centre, where they lock together. They protect the glazing and the meeting stiles, which are the weak point of many French doors.
Choices you can make
- Each side opens independently
- Set back to clear inward-opening doors
- Locks keyed alike with other grilles in the house
- Low-profile floor track
- Optional shoot bolts top and bottom
- Pair of leaves meeting at a central lock

Norfolk is known for flint and brick cottages, Norwich's medieval lanes and listed buildings, and seaside towns with seasonal properties.
Typical places for this kind of grille include:
- French doors to gardens
- Dining rooms and kitchens
- Ground-floor flats
- Juliet balconies on upper floors (with escape in mind)
Things to decide before you order
One side or both
A centre-meeting pair lets you open one side for everyday use.
Upper floors
A grille behind Juliet balcony doors needs to keep any required escape route usable.
Rules that apply in England
Bedroom and escape windows
Approved Document B (fire safety) expects many habitable rooms in houses, especially first-floor rooms, to have an emergency escape window with an unobstructed opening of at least 0.33 m², at least 450 mm high and 450 mm wide, with the bottom of the opening no more than 1,100 mm above the floor. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a release that opens from inside without a key.
Listed buildings and conservation areas
Listed buildings need listed building consent for works that affect their character, which can include internal grilles and their fixings. In conservation areas, councils look closely at anything fitted to the outside. We recommend speaking to the council's conservation officer before ordering.
