How much should I budget for French door grilles in Cumbernauld?
Our guide range for French door grilles in Cumbernauld is £954 to £2,034 including VAT (£795 to £1,695 plus VAT) per pair of doors, including fitting. The survey is free for new installations and your fixed price follows in writing.
French door grilles are usually a pair of retractable grilles that fold to each side of the doors and meet in the centre, where they lock together. They protect the glazing and the meeting stiles, which are the weak point of many French doors.

- Low-profile floor track
- Optional shoot bolts top and bottom
- Set back to clear inward-opening doors
- Matches white, black or wood-effect frames
- Each side opens independently
- Locks keyed alike with other grilles in the house

Upper floors
A grille behind Juliet balcony doors needs to keep any required escape route usable.
Consents and safety: Scotland
Bedroom and escape windows
In Scotland, escape from homes is covered by the Building Standards technical handbooks (section 2, fire). Where a room relies on a window for escape, nothing fitted over it should stop it being used. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.
Grilles inside the glass
A grille fitted inside the glass does not normally need planning permission in Scotland, as it does not materially change the outside of the building. If the building is listed, listed building consent may still be needed.
