How much should I budget for French door grilles in Airdrie?
Most French door grilles in Airdrie fall within £954 to £2,034 including VAT (£795 to £1,695 plus VAT) per pair of doors for supply and fitting. We confirm a fixed price in writing after a free survey, before anything is ordered.
French door grilles are usually a pair of retractable grilles that fold to each side of the doors and meet in the centre, where they lock together. They protect the glazing and the meeting stiles, which are the weak point of many French doors.
Choices you can make
- Pair of leaves meeting at a central lock
- Low-profile floor track
- Locks keyed alike with other grilles in the house
- Set back to clear inward-opening doors
- Optional shoot bolts top and bottom
- Each side opens independently

Consents and safety: Scotland
Grilles inside the glass
A grille fitted inside the glass does not normally need planning permission in Scotland, as it does not materially change the outside of the building. If the building is listed, listed building consent may still be needed.
Bedroom and escape windows
In Scotland, escape from homes is covered by the Building Standards technical handbooks (section 2, fire). Where a room relies on a window for escape, nothing fitted over it should stop it being used. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.

French door grilles in Airdrie: questions
Can you survey in Airdrie and nearby towns?
Yes. Surveys in Airdrie, Coatbridge, Motherwell and elsewhere in Lanarkshire are booked around installer availability.
My French doors open inwards. Can I still have a grille?
Yes. The grille is set back from the doors so they can swing open, or fitted outside if there is no room inside.
Will the grille match my doors?
We powder-coat grilles in white, black, anthracite or a RAL colour close to your frames.
Do French door grilles need a floor track?
Usually a low-profile one, which keeps the grille rigid and is easy to step over.
