Fitting in Campbeltown and nearby
Campbeltown is about 69 miles from Oban, the main centre for Argyll and Bute. We can survey and fit across the PA28 district and in nearby places such as Saltcoats and Troon.
Argyll and Bute is largely coastal and rural, with Oban, Dunoon, Helensburgh and Campbeltown as the main towns and many island properties.
Typical places for this kind of grille include:
- French doors to gardens
- Dining rooms and kitchens
- Juliet balconies on upper floors (with escape in mind)
- Period homes with timber French doors
Things to decide before you order
Upper floors
A grille behind Juliet balcony doors needs to keep any required escape route usable.
Curtains and blinds
Stack positions are planned around curtain tracks and returns.
Rules that apply in Scotland
Grilles inside the glass
A grille fitted inside the glass does not normally need planning permission in Scotland, as it does not materially change the outside of the building. If the building is listed, listed building consent may still be needed.
Bedroom and escape windows
In Scotland, escape from homes is covered by the Building Standards technical handbooks (section 2, fire). Where a room relies on a window for escape, nothing fitted over it should stop it being used. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.

French door grilles in Campbeltown: questions
Can you survey in Campbeltown and nearby towns?
Yes. Surveys in Campbeltown, Saltcoats, Troon and elsewhere in Argyll and Bute are booked around installer availability.
Can French door grilles open one side only?
Yes. Each leaf runs independently, so you can open one side and leave the other closed.
Will the grille match my doors?
We powder-coat grilles in white, black, anthracite or a RAL colour close to your frames.
My French doors open inwards. Can I still have a grille?
Yes. The grille is set back from the doors so they can swing open, or fitted outside if there is no room inside.
