Bespoke security grilles in Port Talbot

How much should I budget for bespoke security grilles in Port Talbot?

Bespoke security grilles in Port Talbot typically cost £474 to £3,594 including VAT (£395 to £2,995 plus VAT) per opening, supplied and fitted. Use the quote tool for a guide figure, then we survey and confirm a fixed price.

A bespoke security grille is designed and fabricated for one particular opening, such as an arched window, a curved bay, a very large screen or a period building where a standard grille would look wrong. It is measured on site, drawn up and made to suit.

Lead time

Bespoke grilles take longer than standard ones because each is drawn and made individually.

Budget

Decorative work costs more than plain bars. We can price plain and decorative options side by side.

Consents and safety: Wales

Wales

Bedroom and escape windows

Wales has its own Approved Documents under the Building Regulations. Approved Document B for Wales sets out escape window provisions for dwellings broadly in line with England's, including minimum opening sizes. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.

Listed buildings and conservation areas

Listed buildings in Wales need listed building consent for works affecting their character, decided by the local planning authority with Cadw's involvement where required. Conservation areas bring extra scrutiny of external changes. Check with the council before ordering.

Bespoke security grilles in Port Talbot: questions

Which areas near Port Talbot do you cover?

We can arrange work in Port Talbot and in nearby Neath (5 miles), Maesteg (6 miles) and Swansea (7 miles). Dates depend on installer availability.

How long do bespoke grilles take?

Longer than standard grilles because each is drawn and fabricated individually. The lead time is confirmed with the quote.

Can you make a grille for an arched window?

Yes. Fixed and removable grilles can follow the arch exactly, and retractable grilles can be fitted below the springing line with a fixed arched panel above.

Can bespoke grilles still be retractable?

Yes, within limits. Retractable grilles need straight tracks, so curved or arched parts are usually fixed.
