Bespoke security grilles in Grimsby

Bespoke security grilles in Grimsby: what will it cost?

Bespoke security grilles in Grimsby typically cost £474 to £3,594 including VAT (£395 to £2,995 plus VAT) per opening, supplied and fitted. Use the quote tool for a guide figure, then we survey and confirm a fixed price.

A bespoke security grille is designed and fabricated for one particular opening, such as an arched window, a curved bay, a very large screen or a period building where a standard grille would look wrong. It is measured on site, drawn up and made to suit.

What the rules say in England

England

Listed buildings and conservation areas

Listed buildings need listed building consent for works that affect their character, which can include internal grilles and their fixings. In conservation areas, councils look closely at anything fitted to the outside. We recommend speaking to the council's conservation officer before ordering.

Bedroom and escape windows

Approved Document B (fire safety) expects many habitable rooms in houses, especially first-floor rooms, to have an emergency escape window with an unobstructed opening of at least 0.33 m², at least 450 mm high and 450 mm wide, with the bottom of the opening no more than 1,100 mm above the floor. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a release that opens from inside without a key.

Bespoke security grilles in Grimsby: questions

Do you cover Cleethorpes as well as Grimsby?

Yes. As well as Grimsby, we can arrange surveys in nearby Cleethorpes, Louth and Hull, and elsewhere in Lincolnshire.

Can bespoke grilles still be retractable?

Yes, within limits. Retractable grilles need straight tracks, so curved or arched parts are usually fixed.

How long do bespoke grilles take?

Longer than standard grilles because each is drawn and fabricated individually. The lead time is confirmed with the quote.

Can a grille be designed for a listed building?

Yes. Slim sections, matched colours and minimal fixings help, but listed building consent is still needed for works that affect the building's character.
