Bespoke security grilles in Oadby

How much should I budget for bespoke security grilles in Oadby?

Most bespoke security grilles in Oadby fall within £474 to £3,594 including VAT (£395 to £2,995 plus VAT) per opening for supply and fitting. We confirm a fixed price in writing after a free survey, before anything is ordered.

A bespoke security grille is designed and fabricated for one particular opening, such as an arched window, a curved bay, a very large screen or a period building where a standard grille would look wrong. It is measured on site, drawn up and made to suit.

What to think about first

Consents

Listed buildings and conservation areas may need consent; bespoke designs are often how consent is won.

Budget

Decorative work costs more than plain bars. We can price plain and decorative options side by side.

Consents and safety: England

England

Listed buildings and conservation areas

Listed buildings need listed building consent for works that affect their character, which can include internal grilles and their fixings. In conservation areas, councils look closely at anything fitted to the outside. We recommend speaking to the council's conservation officer before ordering.

External grilles and planning

External grilles and shutters on shops and other commercial buildings normally need planning permission from the local council because they change the building's appearance. Many councils' shopfront guides favour internal, open-lattice grilles, particularly in conservation areas.

Bespoke security grilles in Oadby: questions

Which areas near Oadby do you cover?

We can arrange work in Oadby and in nearby Wigston (2 miles), Leicester (3 miles) and Market Harborough (11 miles). Dates depend on installer availability.

Can you make a grille for an arched window?

Yes. Fixed and removable grilles can follow the arch exactly, and retractable grilles can be fitted below the springing line with a fixed arched panel above.

How long do bespoke grilles take?

Longer than standard grilles because each is drawn and fabricated individually. The lead time is confirmed with the quote.

Can bespoke grilles still be retractable?

Yes, within limits. Retractable grilles need straight tracks, so curved or arched parts are usually fixed.
