Bespoke security grilles in Maidstone

What is the price of bespoke security grilles in Maidstone?

Budget £474 to £3,594 including VAT (£395 to £2,995 plus VAT) per opening for bespoke security grilles in Maidstone, supplied and fitted. Size, number of leaves, colour and access all move the price, which is fixed in writing after the survey.

A bespoke security grille is designed and fabricated for one particular opening, such as an arched window, a curved bay, a very large screen or a period building where a standard grille would look wrong. It is measured on site, drawn up and made to suit.

Listed buildings and conservation areas

Listed buildings need listed building consent for works that affect their character, which can include internal grilles and their fixings. In conservation areas, councils look closely at anything fitted to the outside. We recommend speaking to the council's conservation officer before ordering.

Bedroom and escape windows

Approved Document B (fire safety) expects many habitable rooms in houses, especially first-floor rooms, to have an emergency escape window with an unobstructed opening of at least 0.33 m², at least 450 mm high and 450 mm wide, with the bottom of the opening no more than 1,100 mm above the floor. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a release that opens from inside without a key.

Bespoke security grilles in Maidstone: questions

Which areas near Maidstone do you cover?

We can arrange work in Maidstone and in nearby Chatham (8 miles), Rochester (8 miles) and Gillingham (9 miles). Dates depend on installer availability.

Can bespoke grilles still be retractable?

Yes, within limits. Retractable grilles need straight tracks, so curved or arched parts are usually fixed.

Can you make a grille for an arched window?

Yes. Fixed and removable grilles can follow the arch exactly, and retractable grilles can be fitted below the springing line with a fixed arched panel above.

Can a grille be designed for a listed building?

Yes. Slim sections, matched colours and minimal fixings help, but listed building consent is still needed for works that affect the building's character.
