Bespoke security grilles in Canary Wharf

How much do bespoke security grilles cost in Canary Wharf?

Bespoke security grilles in Canary Wharf typically cost £474 to £3,594 including VAT (£395 to £2,995 plus VAT) per opening, supplied and fitted. Use the quote tool for a guide figure, then we survey and confirm a fixed price.

A bespoke security grille is designed and fabricated for one particular opening, such as an arched window, a curved bay, a very large screen or a period building where a standard grille would look wrong. It is measured on site, drawn up and made to suit.

Fitting in Canary Wharf and nearby

Canary Wharf is about 5 miles from Central London, the main centre for Greater London. We can survey and fit across the E14 district and in nearby places such as Bow and Canning Town.

London's buildings range from Victorian and Edwardian terraces and mansion blocks to post-war estates, with long high streets of ground-floor shops below flats.

Typical places for this kind of grille include:

Oversized commercial openings
Listed and period buildings
Arched and Gothic windows
Churches and community halls

Things to decide before you order

Lead time

Bespoke grilles take longer than standard ones because each is drawn and made individually.

Design approval

We agree a drawing showing bar layout, sections and finish before anything is made.

Rules that apply in England

England

Bedroom and escape windows

Approved Document B (fire safety) expects many habitable rooms in houses, especially first-floor rooms, to have an emergency escape window with an unobstructed opening of at least 0.33 m², at least 450 mm high and 450 mm wide, with the bottom of the opening no more than 1,100 mm above the floor. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a release that opens from inside without a key.

Listed buildings and conservation areas

Listed buildings need listed building consent for works that affect their character, which can include internal grilles and their fixings. In conservation areas, councils look closely at anything fitted to the outside. We recommend speaking to the council's conservation officer before ordering.

Bespoke security grilles in Canary Wharf: questions

Which areas near Canary Wharf do you cover?

We can arrange work in Canary Wharf and in nearby Bow (1 mile), Canning Town (2 miles) and Greenwich (2 miles). Dates depend on installer availability.

Can bespoke grilles still be retractable?

Yes, within limits. Retractable grilles need straight tracks, so curved or arched parts are usually fixed.

Can a grille be designed for a listed building?

Yes. Slim sections, matched colours and minimal fixings help, but listed building consent is still needed for works that affect the building's character.

Can you make a grille for an arched window?

Yes. Fixed and removable grilles can follow the arch exactly, and retractable grilles can be fitted below the springing line with a fixed arched panel above.
