Bespoke security grilles in Hove

How much should I budget for bespoke security grilles in Hove?

As a guide, bespoke security grilles in Hove cost £474 to £3,594 including VAT (£395 to £2,995 plus VAT) per opening, supplied and fitted. The exact figure depends on size, type, finish and locking, and is confirmed in writing after the free survey.

A bespoke security grille is designed and fabricated for one particular opening, such as an arched window, a curved bay, a very large screen or a period building where a standard grille would look wrong. It is measured on site, drawn up and made to suit.

What to think about first

Lead time

Bespoke grilles take longer than standard ones because each is drawn and made individually.

Decorative work costs more than plain bars. We can price plain and decorative options side by side.

Consents and safety: England

England

Bedroom and escape windows

Approved Document B (fire safety) expects many habitable rooms in houses, especially first-floor rooms, to have an emergency escape window with an unobstructed opening of at least 0.33 m², at least 450 mm high and 450 mm wide, with the bottom of the opening no more than 1,100 mm above the floor. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a release that opens from inside without a key.

External grilles and planning

External grilles and shutters on shops and other commercial buildings normally need planning permission from the local council because they change the building's appearance. Many councils' shopfront guides favour internal, open-lattice grilles, particularly in conservation areas.

Bespoke security grilles in Hove: questions

Which areas near Hove do you cover?

We can arrange work in Hove and in nearby Brighton (1 mile), Portslade (2 miles) and Burgess Hill (9 miles). Dates depend on installer availability.

Can bespoke grilles still be retractable?

Yes, within limits. Retractable grilles need straight tracks, so curved or arched parts are usually fixed.

Can a grille be designed for a listed building?

Yes. Slim sections, matched colours and minimal fixings help, but listed building consent is still needed for works that affect the building's character.

Can you copy an existing grille design?

We can make a grille in a similar style for a matching window. We do not copy other firms' registered designs.
