Bespoke security grilles in Truro

How much should I budget for bespoke security grilles in Truro?

As a guide, bespoke security grilles in Truro cost £474 to £3,594 including VAT (£395 to £2,995 plus VAT) per opening, supplied and fitted. The exact figure depends on size, type, finish and locking, and is confirmed in writing after the free survey.

A bespoke security grille is designed and fabricated for one particular opening, such as an arched window, a curved bay, a very large screen or a period building where a standard grille would look wrong. It is measured on site, drawn up and made to suit.

Retractable, fixed, removable or hinged in bespoke shapes

What to think about first

Consents

Listed buildings and conservation areas may need consent; bespoke designs are often how consent is won.

Lead time

Bespoke grilles take longer than standard ones because each is drawn and made individually.

External grilles and planning

External grilles and shutters on shops and other commercial buildings normally need planning permission from the local council because they change the building's appearance. Many councils' shopfront guides favour internal, open-lattice grilles, particularly in conservation areas.

Bedroom and escape windows

Approved Document B (fire safety) expects many habitable rooms in houses, especially first-floor rooms, to have an emergency escape window with an unobstructed opening of at least 0.33 m², at least 450 mm high and 450 mm wide, with the bottom of the opening no more than 1,100 mm above the floor. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a release that opens from inside without a key.

Bespoke security grilles in Truro: questions

Which areas near Truro do you cover?

We can arrange work in Truro and in nearby Falmouth (8 miles), Redruth (8 miles) and Newquay (10 miles). Dates depend on installer availability.

Can you make a grille for an arched window?

Yes. Fixed and removable grilles can follow the arch exactly, and retractable grilles can be fitted below the springing line with a fixed arched panel above.

How long do bespoke grilles take?

Longer than standard grilles because each is drawn and fabricated individually. The lead time is confirmed with the quote.

Can bespoke grilles still be retractable?

Yes, within limits. Retractable grilles need straight tracks, so curved or arched parts are usually fixed.
