Shopfront security grilles in Monmouth

What is the price of shopfront security grilles in Monmouth?

Most shopfront security grilles in Monmouth fall within £1,195 to £3,495 plus VAT (£1,434 to £4,194 inc VAT) per shopfront for supply and fitting. We confirm a fixed price in writing after a free survey, before anything is ordered.

A shopfront security grille is a wide retractable or roller grille fitted behind the shop window and entrance. It protects the glass line after closing while leaving the display visible, which is why many councils prefer it to a solid external shutter.

Specification at a glance

Internal open-mesh roller grilles where there is head space for the coil
Multi-leaf retractable layouts for windows several metres wide
Fitted behind the glass so the shopfront itself is unchanged
Heavier sections and extra locking for higher-risk trades
Fitting scheduled outside trading hours where possible
Stack positions planned around stallrisers, pilasters and display units

Fitting in Monmouth and nearby

Whether you are in central Monmouth or at the edge of the NP25 district, we can arrange a survey. Nearby Chepstow and Abergavenny are covered too.

Gwent ranges from Newport's Victorian terraces and city centre to valley towns such as Ebbw Vale and Pontypool and historic Monmouth and Chepstow.

This type of grille suits:

Pharmacies and opticians
Jewellers and phone shops
High-street shops and boutiques
Cafés, restaurants and takeaways

Questions we will ask at the survey

Lattice or roller

Retractable lattice suits most shop windows. An internal roller grille needs space for the coil above the window but leaves nothing at the sides.

Risk level

Phone shops, jewellers and pharmacies may want heavier sections, more locking points or a certified product.

Planning and safety in Wales

Wales

External grilles and planning

External grilles and shutters on commercial buildings normally need planning permission from the local planning authority. Welsh councils' shopfront and design guidance generally favours internal, see-through security over solid external shutters.

Grilles across exits in business premises

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 applies in Wales, including to the common parts of blocks of flats and HMOs. The responsible person must keep escape routes and exits available and easy to open while people are present, so a grille across an exit should be open whenever the premises are occupied.

Shopfront security grilles in Monmouth: questions

Can you survey in Monmouth and nearby towns?

Yes. Surveys in Monmouth, Chepstow, Abergavenny and elsewhere in Gwent are booked around installer availability.

Can the grille cover the shop door too?

Yes. The door is covered by its own leaf, by a separate gate, or by including it in the main grille run.

Can you fit the grille without closing the shop?

Usually. Fitting is noisy for short spells while tracks are drilled, so we offer early-morning or after-closing slots where the installer's schedule allows.

Do I need planning permission for a shop grille?

An internal grille behind the glass does not usually need planning permission. External shutters and grilles normally do, and listed buildings need listed building consent for internal or external works that affect their character.
