Security grille servicing in Newtown: what will it cost?

Security grille servicing in Newtown costs £114 to £234 including VAT (£95 to £195 plus VAT) per grille, with a minimum visit charge of £174 including VAT (£145 plus VAT). The price is confirmed before the visit.

Security grille servicing is planned maintenance that keeps grilles running smoothly and locking properly. A service cleans the tracks, lubricates the pivots and runners, checks fixings and alignment, tests the lock and any release mechanism, and records anything that needs attention.

What we look at

  • Annual or six-monthly plans for multiple grilles
  • Lock and key operation test
  • Track cleaning and debris removal
  • Written service record
  • Roller grille spring, motor and safety device checks
  • Check of fixings, alignment and stack

  • Grilles over escape windows

Getting the best result

How often

Daily-use and external grilles benefit from six-monthly visits; light-use internal grilles from yearly.

Powered grilles

Electric grilles need checks of their safety devices as well as the mechanics.

What the rules say in Wales

Wales

Bedroom and escape windows

Wales has its own Approved Documents under the Building Regulations. Approved Document B for Wales sets out escape window provisions for dwellings broadly in line with England's, including minimum opening sizes. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.

Electric roller grilles

Electric grilles need a suitable supply wired to BS 7671, with notifiable domestic work covered by the Welsh Building Regulations. Powered grilles should have working safety devices and regular maintenance.
