Removable security grilles in Holywood

How much do removable security grilles cost in Holywood?

Budget £354 to £894 including VAT (£295 to £745 plus VAT) per window for removable security grilles in Holywood, supplied and fitted. Size, number of leaves, colour and access all move the price, which is fixed in writing after the survey.

A removable security grille is a rigid steel panel that sits in locked brackets fixed to the window reveal. Unlocked, it lifts out entirely, leaving the window clear for cleaning, views or escape; locked in, it is as strong as a fixed grille.

What you can specify

Keyed or padlockable bracket pins
Rigid welded panel in steel
White, black, anthracite or RAL finishes
Brackets that are discreet when the panel is stored
Lifts out completely for a clear window
Split panels for large windows so each is manageable

Fitting in Holywood and nearby

We arrange surveys and fitting in Holywood and across the BT18 postcode district, as well as in nearby Newtownabbey (3 miles) and Belfast (5 miles). Dates depend on installer availability.

County Down includes North Down's commuter towns such as Bangor and Holywood, Newry's border-town retail and rural market towns.

Typical places for this kind of grille include:

Listed interiors where tracks are unwelcome
Temporary or seasonal security
Offices empty at weekends
Windows needed for cleaning or access

Things to decide before you order

Locking

Choose keyed pins for everyday use, or padlock hasps if you prefer to use your own padlocks.

Escape

A removable panel is not a quick-release escape grille. Upstairs and bedroom windows needed for escape suit a quick-release retractable grille better.

Rules that apply in Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland

Listed buildings and conservation areas

Listed buildings in Northern Ireland need listed building consent for works affecting their character, with the council deciding and the Department for Communities' Historic Environment Division advising. Conservation areas bring extra scrutiny of external changes.

Bedroom and escape windows

Fire safety in new building work in Northern Ireland is covered by the Building Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012 and Technical Booklet E. Where a room relies on a window for escape, nothing fitted over it should stop it being used. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.

Removable security grilles in Holywood: questions

Do you cover Newtownabbey as well as Holywood?

Yes. As well as Holywood, we can arrange surveys in nearby Newtownabbey, Belfast and Carrickfergus, and elsewhere in County Down.

Are removable grilles suitable for listed buildings?

Often, because the only permanent fixings are small brackets. Listed building consent may still be needed, so check with your council first.

How heavy is a removable grille panel?

It depends on size and bar section. We aim to keep each panel light enough for one person to lift, splitting large windows into two panels.

What is the difference between removable and retractable grilles?

A retractable grille folds to the side but stays in place; a removable grille comes out completely. Retractable suits daily use, removable suits occasional use.
