What is the price of patio and bifold door grilles in Tunbridge Wells?
Budget £1,074 to £2,994 including VAT (£895 to £2,495 plus VAT) per set of doors for patio and bifold door grilles in Tunbridge Wells, supplied and fitted. Size, number of leaves, colour and access all move the price, which is fixed in writing after the survey.
A patio door grille is a wide retractable grille fitted inside sliding patio or bifold doors. Closed, it protects a large glazed opening that is often out of sight at the back of the house; open, it folds into slim stacks so the view and access are unaffected.
What goes into a patio door grille
- Works with sliding, lift-and-slide and bifold doors
- Multi-leaf grilles for openings up to several metres
- Locks operable from inside
- Stacks positioned to clear handles and curtains
- White, black, anthracite or RAL
- Optional extra locking points for wide spans

Usage
If you open the doors every day, ask for a lighter-action grille with smooth runners.
Where it parks
Bifold doors stack their own leaves to one side; the grille stack should not fight them.
Planning and safety in England
Grilles inside the glass
A grille fitted inside the glass does not normally need planning permission, because it does not materially change how the building looks from outside. If the building is listed, listed building consent may still be needed.
Bedroom and escape windows
Approved Document B (fire safety) expects many habitable rooms in houses, especially first-floor rooms, to have an emergency escape window with an unobstructed opening of at least 0.33 m², at least 450 mm high and 450 mm wide, with the bottom of the opening no more than 1,100 mm above the floor. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a release that opens from inside without a key.

Can you survey in Tunbridge Wells and nearby towns?
Yes. Surveys in Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Crowborough and elsewhere in Kent are booked around installer availability.
Can I walk over the grille track?
Yes. Low-profile tracks are a few millimetres high, and recessed tracks sit flush with the floor.
Can the grille be fitted outside the patio doors?
It can, but inside is usual because the grille is protected and the outside of the house stays the same.
How long does fitting take?
A typical set of patio doors takes half a day once the grille is made.
