How much should I budget for patio and bifold door grilles in Broadstairs?
Budget £1,074 to £2,994 including VAT (£895 to £2,495 plus VAT) per set of doors for patio and bifold door grilles in Broadstairs, supplied and fitted. Size, number of leaves, colour and access all move the price, which is fixed in writing after the survey.
A patio door grille is a wide retractable grille fitted inside sliding patio or bifold doors. Closed, it protects a large glazed opening that is often out of sight at the back of the house; open, it folds into slim stacks so the view and access are unaffected.
What goes into a patio door grille
- Works with sliding, lift-and-slide and bifold doors
- Multi-leaf grilles for openings up to several metres
- Locks operable from inside
- Matched to aluminium, uPVC or timber frames
- Optional extra locking points for wide spans
- Stacks positioned to clear handles and curtains

What to think about first
Track
A low-profile track keeps the threshold easy to walk over. Recessed tracks need a little floor work.
Usage
If you open the doors every day, ask for a lighter-action grille with smooth runners.
Consents and safety: England
Grilles inside the glass
A grille fitted inside the glass does not normally need planning permission, because it does not materially change how the building looks from outside. If the building is listed, listed building consent may still be needed.
Listed buildings and conservation areas
Listed buildings need listed building consent for works that affect their character, which can include internal grilles and their fixings. In conservation areas, councils look closely at anything fitted to the outside. We recommend speaking to the council's conservation officer before ordering.

Patio and bifold door grilles in Broadstairs: questions
Which areas near Broadstairs do you cover?
We can arrange work in Broadstairs and in nearby Ramsgate (2 miles), Margate (3 miles) and Deal (9 miles). Dates depend on installer availability.
How long does fitting take?
A typical set of patio doors takes half a day once the grille is made.
Will a grille get in the way of my bifold doors?
No. We plan the stack so the bifold leaves and the grille fold to positions that do not clash.
Can I walk over the grille track?
Yes. Low-profile tracks are a few millimetres high, and recessed tracks sit flush with the floor.
