How much should I budget for patio and bifold door grilles in Hertfordshire?
Most patio and bifold door grilles in Hertfordshire fall within £1,074 to £2,994 including VAT (£895 to £2,495 plus VAT) per set of doors for supply and fitting. We confirm a fixed price in writing after a free survey, before anything is ordered.
A patio door grille is a wide retractable grille fitted inside sliding patio or bifold doors. Closed, it protects a large glazed opening that is often out of sight at the back of the house; open, it folds into slim stacks so the view and access are unaffected.

- Matched to aluminium, uPVC or timber frames

What to think about first
Usage
If you open the doors every day, ask for a lighter-action grille with smooth runners.
Colour
Anthracite grilles sit quietly against grey aluminium frames.
Consents and safety: England
Bedroom and escape windows
Approved Document B (fire safety) expects many habitable rooms in houses, especially first-floor rooms, to have an emergency escape window with an unobstructed opening of at least 0.33 m², at least 450 mm high and 450 mm wide, with the bottom of the opening no more than 1,100 mm above the floor. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a release that opens from inside without a key.
Grilles inside the glass
A grille fitted inside the glass does not normally need planning permission, because it does not materially change how the building looks from outside. If the building is listed, listed building consent may still be needed.

Patio and bifold door grilles in Hertfordshire: questions
Which towns in Hertfordshire do you cover?
We can arrange work anywhere in Hertfordshire, including Watford, Hemel Hempstead, Stevenage, St Albans and Welwyn Garden City, and in other towns across the area.
Do patio grilles block the view?
When open, only a slim stack at each side. When closed, the lattice is open enough to see the garden clearly.
Will a grille get in the way of my bifold doors?
No. We plan the stack so the bifold leaves and the grille fold to positions that do not clash.
Can I walk over the grille track?
Yes. Low-profile tracks are a few millimetres high, and recessed tracks sit flush with the floor.
