What is the price of patio and bifold door grilles in Ashton-under-Lyne?
As a guide, patio and bifold door grilles in Ashton-under-Lyne cost £1,074 to £2,994 including VAT (£895 to £2,495 plus VAT) per set of doors, supplied and fitted. The exact figure depends on size, type, finish and locking, and is confirmed in writing after the free survey.
A patio door grille is a wide retractable grille fitted inside sliding patio or bifold doors. Closed, it protects a large glazed opening that is often out of sight at the back of the house; open, it folds into slim stacks so the view and access are unaffected.

- Optional extra locking points for wide spans
- Low-profile or recessed floor tracks
- Matched to aluminium, uPVC or timber frames

Questions we will ask at the survey
Where it parks
Bifold doors stack their own leaves to one side; the grille stack should not fight them.
Track
A low-profile track keeps the threshold easy to walk over. Recessed tracks need a little floor work.
Planning and safety in England
Bedroom and escape windows
Approved Document B (fire safety) expects many habitable rooms in houses, especially first-floor rooms, to have an emergency escape window with an unobstructed opening of at least 0.33 m², at least 450 mm high and 450 mm wide, with the bottom of the opening no more than 1,100 mm above the floor. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a release that opens from inside without a key.
Grilles inside the glass
A grille fitted inside the glass does not normally need planning permission, because it does not materially change how the building looks from outside. If the building is listed, listed building consent may still be needed.

Patio and bifold door grilles in Ashton-under-Lyne: questions
Do you cover Dukinfield as well as Ashton-under-Lyne?
Yes. As well as Ashton-under-Lyne, we can arrange surveys in nearby Dukinfield, Stalybridge and Droylsden, and elsewhere in Greater Manchester.
How long does fitting take?
A typical set of patio doors takes half a day once the grille is made.
Will a grille get in the way of my bifold doors?
No. We plan the stack so the bifold leaves and the grille fold to positions that do not clash.
Can the grille be fitted outside the patio doors?
It can, but inside is usual because the grille is protected and the outside of the house stays the same.
