Home security grilles in Epsom

What is the price of home security grilles in Epsom?

Most home security grilles in Epsom fall within £414 to £954 including VAT (£345 to £795 plus VAT) per window for supply and fitting. We confirm a fixed price in writing after a free survey, before anything is ordered.

Home security grilles are made-to-measure grilles for the windows and doors of houses and flats, usually retractable and fitted inside the glass. Folded back during the day they are barely noticeable; drawn across at night or when you are away, they stop entry through broken glass.

Escape from bedrooms

Grilles over bedroom and upstairs windows need a release that opens from inside without a key.

Planning and safety in England

England

Grilles in rented homes

Landlords in England must keep rented homes free from serious hazards under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System, which includes fire. A grille that stops a tenant using an escape window can create a hazard, so grilles in rented homes should have keyless internal releases.

Bedroom and escape windows

Approved Document B (fire safety) expects many habitable rooms in houses, especially first-floor rooms, to have an emergency escape window with an unobstructed opening of at least 0.33 m², at least 450 mm high and 450 mm wide, with the bottom of the opening no more than 1,100 mm above the floor. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a release that opens from inside without a key.

Home security grilles in Epsom: questions

Do you cover Ewell as well as Epsom?

Yes. As well as Epsom, we can arrange surveys in nearby Ewell, Banstead and Sutton, and elsewhere in Surrey.

Do home security grilles look like prison bars?

Not when they are fitted inside the glass in a matching colour. Folded back, a grille is a slim stack at the side of the window.

Are grilles safe if there is a fire?

Yes, provided any window needed for escape has a grille with a keyless internal release. We will not fit a key-only grille over an escape window.

Can grilles be fitted in a rented home?

Tenants need the landlord's permission. Landlords should make sure escape routes stay usable for tenants.
