Home security grilles in Musselburgh

Home security grilles in Musselburgh: what will it cost?

As a guide, home security grilles in Musselburgh cost £414 to £954 including VAT (£345 to £795 plus VAT) per window, supplied and fitted. The exact figure depends on size, type, finish and locking, and is confirmed in writing after the free survey.

Home security grilles are made-to-measure grilles for the windows and doors of houses and flats, usually retractable and fitted inside the glass. Folded back during the day they are barely noticeable; drawn across at night or when you are away, they stop entry through broken glass.

Match the grille colour to your window frames and it will almost disappear.

Escape from bedrooms

Grilles over bedroom and upstairs windows need a release that opens from inside without a key.

What the rules say in Scotland

Scotland

Listed buildings and conservation areas

Listed buildings in Scotland need listed building consent for works affecting their character, decided by the council, with Historic Environment Scotland consulted on some cases. Conservation areas bring extra scrutiny of external changes. Check with the council before ordering.

Bedroom and escape windows

In Scotland, escape from homes is covered by the Building Standards technical handbooks (section 2, fire). Where a room relies on a window for escape, nothing fitted over it should stop it being used. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.

Home security grilles in Musselburgh: questions

Which areas near Musselburgh do you cover?

We can arrange work in Musselburgh and in nearby Dalkeith (3 miles), Edinburgh (6 miles) and Penicuik (10 miles). Dates depend on installer availability.

Are grilles safe if there is a fire?

Yes, provided any window needed for escape has a grille with a keyless internal release. We will not fit a key-only grille over an escape window.

Can grilles be fitted in a rented home?

Tenants need the landlord's permission. Landlords should make sure escape routes stay usable for tenants.

Do home security grilles look like prison bars?

Not when they are fitted inside the glass in a matching colour. Folded back, a grille is a slim stack at the side of the window.
