Home security grilles in Dunstable

How much do home security grilles cost in Dunstable?

Budget £414 to £954 including VAT (£345 to £795 plus VAT) per window for home security grilles in Dunstable, supplied and fitted. Size, number of leaves, colour and access all move the price, which is fixed in writing after the survey.

Home security grilles are made-to-measure grilles for the windows and doors of houses and flats, usually retractable and fitted inside the glass. Folded back during the day they are barely noticeable; drawn across at night or when you are away, they stop entry through broken glass.

Rules that apply in England

England

Grilles in rented homes

Landlords in England must keep rented homes free from serious hazards under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System, which includes fire. A grille that stops a tenant using an escape window can create a hazard, so grilles in rented homes should have keyless internal releases.

Listed buildings and conservation areas

Listed buildings need listed building consent for works that affect their character, which can include internal grilles and their fixings. In conservation areas, councils look closely at anything fitted to the outside. We recommend speaking to the council's conservation officer before ordering.

Home security grilles in Dunstable: questions

Can you survey in Dunstable and nearby towns?

Yes. Surveys in Dunstable, Luton, Leighton Buzzard and elsewhere in Bedfordshire are booked around installer availability.

Are grilles safe if there is a fire?

Yes, provided any window needed for escape has a grille with a keyless internal release. We will not fit a key-only grille over an escape window.

Do home security grilles look like prison bars?

Not when they are fitted inside the glass in a matching colour. Folded back, a grille is a slim stack at the side of the window.

Will grilles affect my home insurance?

Some insurers ask about security measures. Tell your insurer about any changes; they decide whether it affects your policy.
