Grille lock replacement and upgrades in Dumfries: what will it cost?
Most grille lock replacements in Dumfries cost £150 to £354 including VAT (£125 to £295 plus VAT) per lock fitted. Upgrades such as quick-release or restricted-key cylinders are priced before work goes ahead.
Grille lock replacement means fitting a new cylinder, lock body or complete lock box to an existing security grille. It is the quick fix for lost keys, worn or seized locks and moving into a property with unknown keys, and a chance to upgrade to a stronger or quick-release lock.

What the rules say in Scotland
Grilles across exits in business premises
In Scotland, the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006 make the duty holder keep escape routes and exits available and easy to open while people are present. A grille across an exit should be open whenever the premises are occupied.
Bedroom and escape windows
In Scotland, escape from homes is covered by the Building Standards technical handbooks (section 2, fire). Where a room relies on a window for escape, nothing fitted over it should stop it being used. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.
