How much do French door grilles cost in Hucknall?
Most French door grilles in Hucknall fall within £954 to £2,034 including VAT (£795 to £1,695 plus VAT) per pair of doors for supply and fitting. We confirm a fixed price in writing after a free survey, before anything is ordered.
French door grilles are usually a pair of retractable grilles that fold to each side of the doors and meet in the centre, where they lock together. They protect the glazing and the meeting stiles, which are the weak point of many French doors.

Fitting in Hucknall and nearby
Hucknall is about 6 miles from Nottingham, the main centre for Nottinghamshire. We can survey and fit across the NG15 district and in nearby places such as Arnold and Nottingham.
Nottinghamshire mixes Nottingham's Victorian terraces and Lace Market warehouses with former mining towns and their high streets.
Typical places for this kind of grille include:
- Dining rooms and kitchens
- French doors to gardens
- Period homes with timber French doors
- Juliet balconies on upper floors (with escape in mind)
Things to decide before you order
One side or both
A centre-meeting pair lets you open one side for everyday use.
Upper floors
A grille behind Juliet balcony doors needs to keep any required escape route usable.
Rules that apply in England
Grilles inside the glass
A grille fitted inside the glass does not normally need planning permission, because it does not materially change how the building looks from outside. If the building is listed, listed building consent may still be needed.
Listed buildings and conservation areas
Listed buildings need listed building consent for works that affect their character, which can include internal grilles and their fixings. In conservation areas, councils look closely at anything fitted to the outside. We recommend speaking to the council's conservation officer before ordering.

French door grilles in Hucknall: questions
Can you survey in Hucknall and nearby towns?
Yes. Surveys in Hucknall, Arnold, Nottingham and elsewhere in Nottinghamshire are booked around installer availability.
My French doors open inwards. Can I still have a grille?
Yes. The grille is set back from the doors so they can swing open, or fitted outside if there is no room inside.
Do French door grilles need a floor track?
Usually a low-profile one, which keeps the grille rigid and is easy to step over.
Will the grille match my doors?
We powder-coat grilles in white, black, anthracite or a RAL colour close to your frames.
