How much do French door grilles cost in Morpeth?
Budget £954 to £2,034 including VAT (£795 to £1,695 plus VAT) per pair of doors for French door grilles in Morpeth, supplied and fitted. Size, number of leaves, colour and access all move the price, which is fixed in writing after the survey.
French door grilles are usually a pair of retractable grilles that fold to each side of the doors and meet in the centre, where they lock together. They protect the glazing and the meeting stiles, which are the weak point of many French doors.

Fitting in Morpeth and nearby
We can arrange French door grilles across Morpeth, the main centre for Northumberland, and in nearby towns including Ashington, Cramlington and Blyth.
Northumberland is largely rural, with stone-built market towns such as Hexham and Alnwick and terraced former mining towns in the south-east.
Typical places for this kind of grille include:
- Period homes with timber French doors
- French doors to gardens
- Juliet balconies on upper floors (with escape in mind)
- Ground-floor flats
Things to decide before you order
Curtains and blinds
Stack positions are planned around curtain tracks and returns.
Upper floors
A grille behind Juliet balcony doors needs to keep any required escape route usable.
Rules that apply in England
Listed buildings and conservation areas
Listed buildings need listed building consent for works that affect their character, which can include internal grilles and their fixings. In conservation areas, councils look closely at anything fitted to the outside. We recommend speaking to the council's conservation officer before ordering.
Grilles inside the glass
A grille fitted inside the glass does not normally need planning permission, because it does not materially change how the building looks from outside. If the building is listed, listed building consent may still be needed.
