What is the price of French door grilles in Selby?
Most French door grilles in Selby fall within £954 to £2,034 including VAT (£795 to £1,695 plus VAT) per pair of doors for supply and fitting. We confirm a fixed price in writing after a free survey, before anything is ordered.
French door grilles are usually a pair of retractable grilles that fold to each side of the doors and meet in the centre, where they lock together. They protect the glazing and the meeting stiles, which are the weak point of many French doors.

Fitting in Selby and nearby
Selby is about 12 miles from York, the main centre for North Yorkshire. We can survey and fit across the YO8 district and in nearby places such as Goole and Pontefract.
North Yorkshire runs from York's walled historic centre and Harrogate's Victorian stone to Teesside's terraces and the Dales' stone villages.
This type of grille suits:
- Juliet balconies on upper floors (with escape in mind)
- French doors to gardens
- Dining rooms and kitchens
- Period homes with timber French doors
Questions we will ask at the survey
Upper floors
A grille behind Juliet balcony doors needs to keep any required escape route usable.
Curtains and blinds
Stack positions are planned around curtain tracks and returns.
Planning and safety in England
Bedroom and escape windows
Approved Document B (fire safety) expects many habitable rooms in houses, especially first-floor rooms, to have an emergency escape window with an unobstructed opening of at least 0.33 m², at least 450 mm high and 450 mm wide, with the bottom of the opening no more than 1,100 mm above the floor. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a release that opens from inside without a key.
Grilles inside the glass
A grille fitted inside the glass does not normally need planning permission, because it does not materially change how the building looks from outside. If the building is listed, listed building consent may still be needed.

Do you cover Goole as well as Selby?
Yes. As well as Selby, we can arrange surveys in nearby Goole, Pontefract and York, and elsewhere in North Yorkshire.
How long does it take to fit?
Usually two to three hours once the grilles arrive.
My French doors open inwards. Can I still have a grille?
Yes. The grille is set back from the doors so they can swing open, or fitted outside if there is no room inside.
Will the grille match my doors?
We powder-coat grilles in white, black, anthracite or a RAL colour close to your frames.
