How much do French door grilles cost in Wallasey?
Most French door grilles in Wallasey fall within £954 to £2,034 including VAT (£795 to £1,695 plus VAT) per pair of doors for supply and fitting. We confirm a fixed price in writing after a free survey, before anything is ordered.
French door grilles are usually a pair of retractable grilles that fold to each side of the doors and meet in the centre, where they lock together. They protect the glazing and the meeting stiles, which are the weak point of many French doors.
Choices you can make
- Set back to clear inward-opening doors
- Each side opens independently
- Small stacks at each side of the doors
- Locks keyed alike with other grilles in the house
- Pair of leaves meeting at a central lock
- Matches white, black or wood-effect frames

Merseyside has Liverpool's Georgian quarter and Victorian terraces, the Wirral's suburbs, and large high-street and dockside commercial areas.

- Juliet balconies on upper floors (with escape in mind)
- Period homes with timber French doors
- Ground-floor flats
- Dining rooms and kitchens
Things to decide before you order
One side or both
A centre-meeting pair lets you open one side for everyday use.
Upper floors
A grille behind Juliet balcony doors needs to keep any required escape route usable.
Rules that apply in England
Grilles inside the glass
A grille fitted inside the glass does not normally need planning permission, because it does not materially change how the building looks from outside. If the building is listed, listed building consent may still be needed.
Listed buildings and conservation areas
Listed buildings need listed building consent for works that affect their character, which can include internal grilles and their fixings. In conservation areas, councils look closely at anything fitted to the outside. We recommend speaking to the council's conservation officer before ordering.

French door grilles in Wallasey: questions
Which areas near Wallasey do you cover?
We can arrange work in Wallasey and in nearby Birkenhead (3 miles), Bootle (4 miles) and Liverpool (4 miles). Dates depend on installer availability.
Do French door grilles need a floor track?
Usually a low-profile one, which keeps the grille rigid and is easy to step over.
My French doors open inwards. Can I still have a grille?
Yes. The grille is set back from the doors so they can swing open, or fitted outside if there is no room inside.
Will the grille match my doors?
We powder-coat grilles in white, black, anthracite or a RAL colour close to your frames.
