How much should I budget for French door grilles in Holyhead?
Most French door grilles in Holyhead fall within £954 to £2,034 including VAT (£795 to £1,695 plus VAT) per pair of doors for supply and fitting. We confirm a fixed price in writing after a free survey, before anything is ordered.
French door grilles are usually a pair of retractable grilles that fold to each side of the doors and meet in the centre, where they lock together. They protect the glazing and the meeting stiles, which are the weak point of many French doors.
Choices you can make

North-west Wales is known for slate and stone terraces in quarry and harbour towns, university buildings in Bangor and many seasonal holiday homes.
Where French door grilles are most often used:
- French doors to gardens
- Juliet balconies on upper floors (with escape in mind)
- Period homes with timber French doors
- Ground-floor flats
What to think about first
Door swing
Inward-opening doors need the grille set back far enough to clear the leaves.
Upper floors
A grille behind Juliet balcony doors needs to keep any required escape route usable.
Consents and safety: Wales
Listed buildings and conservation areas
Listed buildings in Wales need listed building consent for works affecting their character, decided by the local planning authority with Cadw's involvement where required. Conservation areas bring extra scrutiny of external changes. Check with the council before ordering.
Bedroom and escape windows
Wales has its own Approved Documents under the Building Regulations. Approved Document B for Wales sets out escape window provisions for dwellings broadly in line with England's, including minimum opening sizes. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.
