How much do French door grilles cost in Annan?
As a guide, French door grilles in Annan cost £954 to £2,034 including VAT (£795 to £1,695 plus VAT) per pair of doors, supplied and fitted. The exact figure depends on size, type, finish and locking, and is confirmed in writing after the free survey.
French door grilles are usually a pair of retractable grilles that fold to each side of the doors and meet in the centre, where they lock together. They protect the glazing and the meeting stiles, which are the weak point of many French doors.

- Period homes with timber French doors
- Ground-floor flats
- Juliet balconies on upper floors (with escape in mind)
Things to decide before you order
Upper floors
A grille behind Juliet balcony doors needs to keep any required escape route usable.
One side or both
A centre-meeting pair lets you open one side for everyday use.
Rules that apply in Scotland
Listed buildings and conservation areas
Listed buildings in Scotland need listed building consent for works affecting their character, decided by the council, with Historic Environment Scotland consulted on some cases. Conservation areas bring extra scrutiny of external changes. Check with the council before ordering.
Bedroom and escape windows
In Scotland, escape from homes is covered by the Building Standards technical handbooks (section 2, fire). Where a room relies on a window for escape, nothing fitted over it should stop it being used. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.
