What is the price of French door grilles in Falmouth?
As a guide, French door grilles in Falmouth cost £954 to £2,034 including VAT (£795 to £1,695 plus VAT) per pair of doors, supplied and fitted. The exact figure depends on size, type, finish and locking, and is confirmed in writing after the free survey.
French door grilles are usually a pair of retractable grilles that fold to each side of the doors and meet in the centre, where they lock together. They protect the glazing and the meeting stiles, which are the weak point of many French doors.

Fitting in Falmouth and nearby
Whether you are in central Falmouth or at the edge of the TR11 district, we can arrange a survey. Nearby Truro and Redruth are covered too.
Cornwall's stock is largely granite and slate cottages, terraces and holiday lets, with many seasonal properties left empty for part of the year.
This type of grille suits:
- French doors to gardens
- Period homes with timber French doors
- Ground-floor flats
- Juliet balconies on upper floors (with escape in mind)
Questions we will ask at the survey
Door swing
Inward-opening doors need the grille set back far enough to clear the leaves.
Upper floors
A grille behind Juliet balcony doors needs to keep any required escape route usable.
Planning and safety in England
Listed buildings and conservation areas
Listed buildings need listed building consent for works that affect their character, which can include internal grilles and their fixings. In conservation areas, councils look closely at anything fitted to the outside. We recommend speaking to the council's conservation officer before ordering.
Grilles inside the glass
A grille fitted inside the glass does not normally need planning permission, because it does not materially change how the building looks from outside. If the building is listed, listed building consent may still be needed.

French door grilles in Falmouth: questions
Can you survey in Falmouth and nearby towns?
Yes. Surveys in Falmouth, Truro, Redruth and elsewhere in Cornwall are booked around installer availability.
Can French door grilles open one side only?
Yes. Each leaf runs independently, so you can open one side and leave the other closed.
My French doors open inwards. Can I still have a grille?
Yes. The grille is set back from the doors so they can swing open, or fitted outside if there is no room inside.
Will the grille match my doors?
We powder-coat grilles in white, black, anthracite or a RAL colour close to your frames.
